Recas Selene Feteasca Neagra
A barrel-aged and unfiltered (dry) red wine that stands out for its freshness and floral side, combined with a full, velvety body with subtle tannins typical of this variety.
Viticulture and winemaking
The diverse terroir of Recaș allows a rigorous selection of Feteasca Neagra grapes, which are processed in Selene. Thus, the blend is made from grapes with different characteristics, harvested by hand on different soils to obtain a strong and at the same time fresh wine.
During vinification and blending, oenologist Nora Iriarte takes care to preserve the fruity intensity typical of this grape variety, but also to obtain a structure that can carry this wine over time.
The year 2020 was an exceptional year for this variety in Recas: low rainfall and perfect temperatures for a perfect maturation of tannins and aromas.
Tasting note
Vivid ruby red color with violet reflections.
On the nose, the wine is intense immediately after opening and is dominated by dark fruits: chocolaty cranberries, plums from Bistrita, complemented by fresh aromas of figs and strawberries.
The taste surprises with its freshness and floral side, combined with a full, velvety body and subtle tannins typical of this variety.
The finish is long and elegant with aromas of chocolate, vanilla and sweet spices: nutmeg and cardamom.
Culinary combinations
Thanks to its subtle tannins and aromatic complexity, it is a versatile wine for culinary combinations.
It can accompany vegetable dishes: Eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms and ripe tomatoes.
Ideal also for traditional dishes: sarmale in vine leaves, game stews, salty pastries, “păturata bănățeana” on potatoes.
